Jay has more than 25 years of experience in marketing communications writing. Before joining Freebairn, he was the senior writer at two of Atlanta's public relations firms. Previously, he was a freelance business-to-business writer for 10 years, and also served as marketing communications manager for a large Atlanta software company.

Jay received his master's degree in business administration from the University of North Texas.
